A few years ago, only those with html knowledge of some sort had a website. With the advent of personal weblogs, also known as blogs, it seems like everyones’ got a site. Whether it’s of the freely hosted kind or on its own domain, blogging has become the fad fueling the hype around “Web 2.0″.

Web 2.0 refers to a new group of services on the internet that lets people collaborate and share information in a ‘new way’. Things like RSS (really simple sydication) allows people to print others content on their own website, or publish thier own RSS feeds for all the internet to use. Social bookmarking sites popped up – like del.icio.us, Furl, and Blinklist – allowing people to spread popularity to their favorite sites. Wikis like Wikipedia allow users to collaborate together on an online encyclopia. News sites like Digg, Slashdot, and Netscape allow people to vote on what news they think is important. All these things work together creating what’s been called this new age of information.

What’s all this mean for you? Information sharing has never been easier.
