My Son, With a .45
Written by Joe on February 9, 2008 – 4:20 pm -A few weeks ago I took my sons out to shoot / watch me shoot a few rounds for the first time. They’ve never actually seen or held a real gun prior to this… alittle nervous (thankfully) but they had a blast. My oldest, Austin, was shooting a .22 rifle and said “This is just like Halo!” You know, the Xbox game. Hehe, ignorance is bliss.
At any rate, I snapped a photo of Jacob, my 4 year old, holding my Llama .45 handgun (unloaded of coarse). He held the gun with me for a few rounds and wanted to showoff his pose for my cell camera… photoshopped it a bit for alittle more ‘flare’…

Teach them now so there hopefully want be any mishaps down the road. Good job. I started my oldest at around six and he damn near out shoots me now at ten. Waiting on my youngest boy to start learning the responsibilities of dealing with a firearm.

No, guns are not toys. Neither are hammers, they are tools. Kids need to learn, the sooner the better.
Get his finger away from the trigger though. Now is time to teach the 4 rules, before they get to touch the firearms.
