Sorry, this isn’t one of those new, overpriced yellow books at your local bookstore. It’s not even a book, rather a blog post about a handy tool I came across. It’s a script that’ll help you configure your mysql settings, ideal for those that aren’t fluent in database server optimization. The author doesn’t include instructions, so I’ll help make it easy for those that aren’t familiar with executing shell scripts or using ssh.

Recently I have been working on a large project, BlogSavy, a free blog hosting service. Other than the typical stuff like updating the software to the lastest version of WPMU and getting all the plugins and templates playing nicely with each other, recently there was a forum installed for support. As such, posting updates on both the host’s homepage and in the forum cumbersome, as well as a time waster.

A few weeks ago I took my sons out to shoot / watch me shoot a few rounds for the first time. They’ve never actually seen or held a real gun prior to this… alittle nervous (thankfully) but they had a blast. My oldest, Austin, was shooting a .22 rifle and said “This is just like Halo!” You know, the Xbox game. Hehe, ignorance is bliss.

An urgent update for Wordpress was released yesterday, specifically to fix a flaw in the XML-RPC implementation that could potentially allow an unscrupulous user to edit other user’s posts. If you’re in a pinch and aren’t too worried with other fixes, you can download the patched xmlrpc.php from here and overwrite your existing file.

I’d like to write a bit more often, seems I’ve neglected the blog (and this site for that matter) since shortly after starting it. Time has just been so limited, with new projects began and finished nearly every week. Whether it’s for projects of my own or for clients, it seems that I have little time left to ‘blog’ for fun. I think after doing it for so long, even ‘fun’ stuff becomes work… and when done with work it’s hard to ‘want’ to do more work.
